Experiment and the search for essence have always been central to my work. I prefer simple processes and constructions. Bindings, folds, rough edges and traces of making are often left visible. I often use steel strapping and other industrial materials to hold things together, at the same time they also create pressure, limitation and control.

My earlier work focused more strongly on rhythm and spatial presence. Over time, my work became more personal and connected to questions around autonomy, rebuilding beyond the traditional structures I grew up with and finding strength in the process.

The totems stand for sovereignty, protection and reclaiming strength. The pods and nests symbolize potential and new beginnings, while trying not to lose yourself to the systems and expectations surrounding you.

I often use materials for the associations and physical qualities they already carry. Wool suggests warmth, care and protection, while industrial materials such as steel strapping introduce tension and control. The meaning arises from the relationship between the materials and their surroundings.

This way of working continues in my two-dimensional work. My cyanotype collages are created through direct physical processes using sunlight, water and simple geometric forms, all cut by hand. In both the process and the final image, I search for reduction, clarity and essence.

I want the work to feel direct, tactile and honest.
